» Growing Up In Cities - Creative Tools: Civic Engagement of Young People
Want to hear from young people and involve them in your municipality? The Creative Tools: Civic Engagement of Young People manual presents an approach and provides tools for engaging young people in municipal governance based on the work of Growing Up In Cities Canada. Learn about mapping, visioning, 'Jenga with a twist' and photo-framing. The tools are youth-friendly, fun and stimulating, and provide a practical basis for gathering young people's perceptions on the strengths and challenges in their local communities. They also form a basis for developing concrete action plans that involve young people in civic decision-making in partnership with local adults, community planners, and municipal government representatives.

» The Play It Right Toolkit
The Play It Right Toolkit is user-friendly and includes ideas for games and activities as well as instructions for their use. This Toolkit focuses on a rights-based approach to anti-discrimination and equips the staff of the camps with the knowledge and skills to promote the values of human rights, inclusion and cultural harmony in the activities they organize with campers aged 6-12 years old. The Play It Right Toolkit is available in English and French.

» Literature Search on Municipal Youth Strategies
The Literature Search on Municipal Youth Strategies is a review of approximately forty-five youth strategies/plans. Six of these strategies serve as examples of comprehensive, well-written and clearly organized Youth Plans. It reviews over 45 Youth strategies/plans from over 6 cities from around the globe, and is meant to explore how best to develop young people as responsive and responsible members of community.

» Health and social literacy comic books

Free Support Groups for Immigrant and Refugee Women
-The Cross-Cultural Peer Support Group Program is excited to announce that we are about to begin the delivery of three Peer Support Groups for Immigrant and Refugee Women facing difficulties adjusting to life in Canada. The groups are open to ALL newcomer women who feel they need support in dealing with issues of adjustment and integration, or are just interested in getting out and meeting new friends. It’s a wonderful opportunity for newcomer women to break their isolation, develop a support network, learn more about Canadian culture and gather information in a comfortable and supportive environment!

» Street Smarts – Improving Relationships with Street Youth
(webpage) - In mid-March of this year, Ethos Strategy Group launched a set of 5 videos created by youth, professions, and business owners. The videos, which are hosted on the Greater Vancouver Regional Steering Community on Homelessness (RSCH) website, are intended to “assist professionals such as health care providers, police and security forces, and business owners to improve their relationships and interactions with street involved youth. [The videos] provide a thoughtful look at the skills needed to produce respectful interactions.” Total running time is about 22 minutes.




Social Support Group for LGBTI South Asians
-Sher Vancouver is a social support group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and intersex South Asians. Friends, families, and allies are also welcome. Sher provides peer support, social activities, information, referral, and outreach presentations. Sher Vancouver does outreach presentations in high schools, colleges, universities, and the community in Greater Vancouver. The presentations deal with racism, bullying, and homophobia issues. The Out in Schools Teacher's Learning Resource Guide has arrived! This handy guide is based on our Out in Schools program and is a terrific resource for educators and youth workers who require support when tackling LGBTQ issues in their classrooms.
