What is YouthPolitik?
YouthPolitik is the City of Vancouver's civic education and youth leadership development program for Vancouver residents aged 15 to 20. Offered since 2006, the program is designed by the City of Vancouver, Park Board, School Board, Library, the youth community and youth in the community. YouthPolitik provides young Vancouverites with an opportunity to explore issues that our city faces, build leadership skills and get hands-on experience in municipal governance, politics and project development.

Why should you be a part of YouthPolitik?

  • Want to learn more about things like urban arts & culture, sustainability or diversity?
  • How about how to fundraise for your project or talk to the media?
  • Want to be part of a great network of inspiring young citizens from all over Vancouver?

    YouthPolitik will give you the opportunity to speak up about issues that matter to you, to work with community leaders, to enhance your own leadership skills, and be part of a great team of active young community leaders from all over Vancouver.

    If you are between the ages of 15 – 20 and live in the city of Vancouver, keep checking back for more info about upcoming YouthPolitik conferences and full semesters.

    YouthPolitik 2010 : conference

    There will be no YouthPolitik semester in 2010. Instead, there will be a YouthPolitik 2010 Fall Conference. Stay tuned for dates and applications.

    YouthPolitik 2011 : the full semester

    The next full YouthPolitik semester will run for 3½ months in 2011. Eighty participants will take part in a series of weekly evening sessions – exploring local government & urban issues, practicing leadership skills, role-playing City Council, Park Board & School Board, and working with elected officials & other community leaders.

    YouthPolitik Fall 2008 Conference

    In Fall 2008, we hosted a free 1½ day conference for 200 young Vancouverites. Conference delegates participated in civic education, urban issues, communications and project development workshops. They also partook in activities that included fun ways to meet & get to know other Conference delegates and a Friday evening banquet extravaganza! All meals were provided FREE for delegates during the Conference.
